Carol Dasta

Obituary of Carol Christine Dasta

Carol Christine Dasta , age 77, passed away peacefully at Lexington Medical Center on March 23, 2024 surrounded by her family.

The oldest of eight children, Carol was born to Bob and Ruth Harris in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She often told stories of growing up in a house full of mischievous younger siblings, and with a family that large, the stories were abundant.

While working at the local Eat-N-Park as a young woman, Carol fell in love with the handsome young cook, Ron Dasta. They were soon married and before long had started a family of their own. Carol and Ron were blessed with three children, Joey, Tammy, and Ronnie.  Although the family moved to South Carolina in the mid 70's, Carol remained a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers football team and Pittsburgh Penguins hockey team, and enjoyed watching games and cheering on her teams.

Carol had a special gift of remembering dates. Even with such a large family, she never forgot a birthday. Siblings, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other extended family, she remembered them all.  Carol was a lover of movies and music, and especially loved listening to songs performed by her favorite, Elvis. Above all else, Carol enjoyed spending time with her family.  She was a proud mom and grandmother and great grandmother, and was quick to show pictures of her family to anyone she met. She never met a stranger.  She had a sense of humor with no filter and was as witty as they come.

Carol is survived by her three children: Joseph Dasta and wife Denise Dasta, Tamara Dasta Kelch and husband William C Kelch III,  Ronald James Dasta and fiancé Leah Horton; her eight grandchildren: Whitney Dasta Solich and husband, Justin Solich, Brittany Rodriguez and husband, Jordan Rodriguez, Kayla Fritz and husband, Derek Fritz, Marissa Dasta and Blake Dasta and their mother, Lisa Ledford Dasta, Landen Kelch, Ayden Dasta, and Ethan Dasta; four great grandchildren, Xander Solich, Isabella Rodriguez, Raelynn Fritz, and Mila Rodriguez. She is also survived by her seven siblings: Donna Lamanna and husband, Frank, Judy Halbleib (husband Pat deceased), Connie Steinbaugh and husband, George, Jane Logue (husband Denny deceased), Bob Harris and wife, Tami, Barb McArthur and husband, Joe, Dan Harris and wife Sherry.

Carol is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends. There is no doubt she will be deeply missed.

Carol was greeted at Heaven’s Gate and was preceeded in death by her husband, Ronald Joseph Dasta, and her parents, Ruth Marie (Mahoney) Harris and Robert Duane Harris.
